A season of the Chinese celebrity reality show "Chinese Restaurant" that was taped in Budapest is drawing strong interest and raising the profile of the capital, the Hungarian Tourism Agency said last week, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

More than 160 million people watched the first episode of the new season of "Chinese Restaurant" online in the first week it was available on Hunan Satellite TV's online platform.

The season, taped over 21 days in a purpose-made restaurant in the capital, highlights Budapest sights such as the Opera House, the Buda Castle, the Central Market Hall, and the banks of the Danube. Local cuisine is even featured in the show, which Zsófia Jakab, the tourism agency's deputy CEO, called an "enormous opportunity".

Hungary was chosen as the site for the new season over a number of other European and Asian locations. The Hungarian Tourism Agency offered the show's producers assistance in picking locations.
