Prices continued to rise faster for housing, water, electricity and other home fuels (17.4% vs 15.4% in July), food and non-alcoholic beverages (25.6% vs 24.7%), furnishings and household maintenance (11% vs 10.4%), and restaurant and hotels (11.7% vs 10.8%).
While remaining high, prices slowed for transportation (28.4% vs 34.2%). On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices added 0.3% in August, following an increase of 0.7% in July. In a separate report the Sarajevo-based agency said that number of registered unemployed people in Bosnia fell by 8.5% year-on-year in July, to 361,774.
On month, the number of registered unemployed people rose by 0.6% in July. Meanwhile in a report, released on Monday, the Banja Luka-based statistics office of Bosnia's Serb Republic, RSIS, said that retail sales in the entity rose by a real 10.4% on the year in August, after increasing by 7.9% in July.
On a monthly comparison basis, retail trade turnover added 1.2% in August, following a revised decline of 0.8% in July. The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Federation is the other one.
