Average gross earnings excluding fostered workers amounted to HUF 504,700.
Average net earnings excluding tax benefits reached HUF 327,700 and HUF 337,200 including them.
Both average gross earnings and average net earnings excluding tax benefits increased by 9.7%. Average net earnings including tax benefits grew by 9.4% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Regular average gross earnings rose to HUF 419,000, 9.7% higher than a year before.
Gross median earnings reached HUF 379,600, up 7.7% year-on-year.
In January-December 2020, average gross earnings amounted to HUF 438,800 and excluding fostered workers to HUF 449,600.
Average net earnings reached HUF 291,800 excluding tax benefits and HUF 300,500 including them.
Both average gross earnings and average net earnings without tax benefits went up by 8.7%, average net earnings including tax benefits grew by 8.4% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
Average gross earnings reached HUF 450,800 in the business sector, HUF 409,900 in the budgetary sector, HUF 419,100 in the non-profit sector, representing growths of 7.8%, 9.5%, and 15.4%, compared to 2020.
Due to planned wage raises in certain government branches – including the pay raise of doctors, judges and prosecutors, and employees of nurseries – the growth of average wages in the budgetary sector exceeded that of the national economy.
Several educational institutions have been reclassified from the budgetary into the non-profit sector, following a change in their controlling authority, leading to a significant increase in average earnings in the non-profit sector.
The highest average gross earnings were recorded in the financial and insurance activities section (HUF 758,700). At the other end of the spectrum, average gross earnings stood at just HUF 267,500 in accommodation and food service activities.
Average gross earnings amounted to HUF 479,200 for male full-time employees and to HUF 401,700 for female full-time employees, representing increases of 8.9% for males and 8.6% for females over a year.
Regular average gross earnings stood at at HUF 404,000, 8.9% higher than a year earlier.
Real earnings rose by 3.4%, along with a 5.1% year-on-year increase in consumer prices.
Gross median earnings were HUF 350,000, some 9.2% above the previous year's value.
