Hungary in 'excellent position' regarding food security

Analysis

The significant role of the agriculture and food industry in the Hungarian economic strategy of the coming years was emphasized by the managing director of the agro-food business of MKB Bank and Takarékbank Dávid Hollósi at the Portfolio Agrarian 2022 conference yesterday in Kecskemét (90 km southeast of Budapest).

According to Hollósi, in the most turbulent macroeconomic environment of recent years, the most extensive rural development program to date must be launched, so there will be a great need for closer cooperation and innovative adaptability of market participants, regulators, financial institutions and guarantee institutions.

Concerning the effects of the Russo-Ukrainian war and the extraordinary situation in the economy and agricultural markets, Hollósi pointed out that food security is of paramount importance in all circumstances, and Hungary has an excellent position in this field.
