Hungary had a €701.1 million trade surplus in May, nearly level with the same month a year earlier, preliminary data published by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Monday show.

Exports rose 1.7% to €6.995 billion and imports climbed 1.8% to €6.293 billion.

Hungary’s trade surplus for January-May was €2.827 billion, narrowing from €3.252 billion in the same period a year earlier. Exports fell 0.9% to HUF 33.065 billion and imports rose 0.4% to €30.238 billion.

KSH will publish a second reading of the data on August 1.
