Vancsura said the wheat harvest has reached 85-90% of completion.
The combine harvesters were forced to rest a few days ago due to wet weather, but the work can be restarted on Thursday in most regions if weather permits.
The recent rains has not caused damage to the crops that could hinder the remaining work, but could adversely influence the quality of the wheat, Vancsura said.
One week ago, more than 3m tonnes of good quality wheat had been harvested, GOSz then said. The country’s wheat requirement is around 2.5 million tonnes.
Earlier estimates put this year’s harvest at 4 million tonnes. Autumn wheat is harvested on just over 952,000 hectares.
