The annual rate of price increases accelerated from 24.9% in February. Farmgate prices have risen in the double digits every month since the start of 2021.
Crop prices were up 41.8% in March, as grain prices jumped 58.2% and industrial crop prices climbed 55.2%. Vegetable prices rose 18.8% and potato prices were up 21.1%, but fruit prices fell 6.7%.
Farmgate prices for live animals and animal products increased 26.9%, as prices for live animals rose 27.9% and animal products prices climbed 25%. The price of live poultry rose 32.1% and hog prices rose 23.6%. The price of milk increased 26.8% and egg prices were up 23.7%.
