The data cover Hungary’s twelve biggest digital television service providers, who control 80-85% of the market.

The number of their digital subscribers with cable or IPTV connections rose by 14,000 to 571,000 during the month. The number with satellite connections climbed 12,000 to 879,000.

A little more than 3 million Hungarian households are pay television subscribers. About 800,000 households watch analogue, digital or satellite television content for which broadcasters do not charge. Subscriptions at the twelve service providers totaled 2.681 million at the end of January.

Taking into account all services, UPC is market leader with a market share of 29% at the end of January, unchanged from a month earlier, Magyar Telekom‘s was also unchanged at 25%, while the share of DIGI rose to 26.1% from 25.9%.
