State secretary for tax and financial affairs to take seat on EBRD board

National Economy Ministry state secretary for tax and financial affairs András Kármán will take over Hungary’s deputy director post on the board of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) from December 1, and he will become one of the EBRD’s directors from May, prime minister’s spokesman Péter Szijjártó said.

Szijjártó was reacting to a report by hvg.hu that Kármán was stepping down. Daily Népszabadság said last week that Hungary’s member on the EBRD board, László Urbán, was returning home.

Urbán took the post of deputy director representing Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, last March.

At present, the group of countries is represented by the Czech Klára Krol. Her mandate expires in May, when the Hungarian board member takes over the job.
