Restructuring of the system is expected to kick off in 2012/13, and the amount of tuition fees would depend on the given faculty. Even the cheapest faculties would cost about HUF 200,000 – 300,000 a year, the state secretary said.
Also, admissions to the partially self-financed scheme would be limited in the future. Decision will be made at the end of the year, when drawing up next year’s budget, Hoffmann said.
Hoffmann also talked about lowering the mandatory upper limit of school age down to 16, as the government has earlier suggested. School age varies between 14 and 16 in Europe, she noted.
