Novák was elected to the post with 137 of 188 valid votes cast, giving her the necessary two-thirds support.
The opposition's candidate for president, the economist Péter Róna, got 51 votes.
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced governing Fidesz's nomination of Novák for president in December.
President János Áder's mandate expires on May 10, 2022. He has served two, five-year terms, the most allowed under Hungary's Constitution.
