The installation of a 5.2 MWh energy storage system has been successfully completed at the Tápiószele manufacturing base of Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines, situated directly adjacent to a previously implemented solar power plant with 4040 panels. This development was carried out as part of the company’s Energy Optimization Program.

The solar energy system’s planned annual energy production is 2,830 MWh, which will cover a substantial portion of the facility’s annual electricity consumption of 3,500–3,600 MWh.

As a result of the investment, Ganz has enhanced the solar power plant installed a year earlier with a unique energy storage system in Hungary, executed by Forest-Vill. This innovative hybrid energy storage system uniquely combines lithium-ion and NAS battery technologies.

Operating in parallel, these technologies leverage the advantages of different storage solutions and, with the aid of an advanced process control system, optimize energy management, ensuring stable and sustainable energy supply without feeding electricity back into the grid.

“The investment at the Tápiószele facility supports reducing Ganz’s dependence on fossil fuels and optimizing energy usage, thereby enhancing our competitiveness. Our goal is to cut fossil fuel consumption by 30% by 2030 and completely phase it out by 2050. Our company plays a pioneering role in establishing sustainability standards within the industry, which is reflected not only in the operation of our factories but also in our products: we offer innovative solutions in the manufacturing of energy equipment that are both sustainable and competitive,” said Gergely Gál, CEO of Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines.

In addition to building the solar power plant, further developments are planned under the program to increase the energy efficiency of Ganz’s transformer and rotating machine factory in Pest County. Alongside installing new, advanced mechanical solutions, the company aims to further reduce its gas consumption through the thermal insulation of production halls and service buildings.

“The utilization of solar energy on an industrial scale has become a trend across all areas of business, and Forest-Vill has increasingly participated in the construction of solar parks and energy storage systems in recent years. We are particularly proud of the work completed for Ganz, not only because it contributes to the sustainable operation of a prestigious Hungarian manufacturing company but also because we were able to implement a unique energy storage technology in Hungary as part of the investment,” emphasized Csaba Németh, managing director of Forest-Vill.

Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines has been a recognized player in Hungarian and international machine manufacturing for over 145 years. Since the patenting of the first transformer in 1885, Ganz has retained its leadership position in the sector, gaining extensive expertise in developing reliable, energy-efficient solutions for both transformers and rotating machines.

These contribute significantly to the efficient utilization of renewable energy in the long term. With the solar power plant and energy storage system installed at the Tápiószele facility, the production of electric machines now uses green energy, further strengthening the company’s leading role in the sector’s renewal.
