The centerpiece of the plan is the construction of a new transformer manufacturing plant in Tápiószele by the end of 2026, nearly doubling the company’s production capacity and reinforcing its standing among Europe’s top energy equipment manufacturers, according to a press release.
Driven by the global demand for electrification, the Ganz 2030 initiative will be implemented in stages and is designed to enhance the company’s flexibility in meeting market needs. Planning, permitting, and initial groundwork are already underway at the Tápiószele site.
The new factory, spanning nearly 6,500 sqm, will be the largest component of the development. It will be complemented by increased storage capacity, modernized material handling systems, an expanded transformer test hall, and a new logistics warehouse. Additionally, the refurbishment of old transformers will be relocated to a larger, 600 sqm building, streamlining the full product lifecycle from initial winding to final testing, and supporting the company’s sustainability goals.
Ganz also plans to create an insulation factory by repurposing two existing buildings. The site’s available space will allow continuous production during the five-year upgrade period without disrupting operations.
“This development is key to our long-term business objectives, and the availability of space for expansion in Tápiószele gives us a significant advantage over other manufacturing sites. Our goal is to create a manufacturing hub by the end of the decade that can effectively support the growing role of renewable energy and the advance of electrification on the manufacturing side,” said Gergely Gál, managing director of Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines.
As part of the program, Ganz will increase its workforce by at least 200 employees by 2030. Alongside facility upgrades, including office and parking renovations, the company has begun hiring and launched the Ganz Training Center. This new Hungarian knowledge hub provides a structured and intensive curriculum focused on transformer and electrical rotating machine manufacturing.
The Ganz 2030 program follows a EUR 12 mln technology investment launched in early 2024 to upgrade its rotating machine plant.
