Slovakia’s competition office reconfirmed Thursday that Slovaki oil company Slovnaft will have to pay a €9 million fine authorities meted out on the company last December.
The office fined Slovnaft citing abuse of market power and discriminative pricing in 2005 and 2006.
Slovnaft disputes the legality of the decision, Slovnaft spokesman Antal Molnár said on Thursday, adding that the office failed to prove that the company’s behavior had an adverse effect on competition.
Hungarian oil company MOL owns a majority stake in Slovnaft.
