MOL expressed interest in acquiring a hundred petrol stations Austrian peer OMV wants to part with, but it received no response, CEO Zsolt Hernádi told the Club of Business Publicists in Vienna on Monday, the Austrian Press Agency (APA) reported.

MOL aims to take a 5%-10% stake of Austria’s retail vehicle fuel market, he added.

MOL said earlier it aimed to expand its network of petrol stations in Austria to 70 units by year-end, and boost the number to 100 in one or two years.

MOL acquired a 75% stake in Roth Heizole, which owns 34 petrol stations in Austria, in 2004.

On Monday, MOL spokesman Szabolcs Ferencz said the 34 Austrian petrol stations MOL acquired when it purchased a 75% stake in Roth in 2004 will continue to bear the Roth name for the time being. MOL wants to keep its image as a premium brand, he explained. (MTI – Econews)
