The recently established Media Council of the National Media and Telecommunications Authority (NMHH) has fined commercial television station RTL Klub HUF 88 million for breaking broadcasting regulations with its reality show Való Világ 4 (Real World 4) in January, council spokesperson Karola Kiricsi said after a meeting of the body on Thursday.
The show’s sexual and violent content should have earned it a “4” rating, making it suitable only for viewers over 16 years of age, Ms Kiricsi said. The show should have been broadcast after 9pm instead of after 7pm, she added.
The council decided a week earlier to fine RTL Klub HUF 144 million for episodes of the show broadcast in November and December.
The council is reviewing episodes of the show broadcast in 2011 in two steps, thus a decision on episodes shown after January is still expected, Ms Kiricsi said.
