Hungary’s economy is set to grow 2-2.5% this year, but the rate of expansion could accelerate to 4% in 2012, K&H Fund Manager’s Tibor Zámbó said at an investors club event on Tuesday.

The government targets GDP growth of 3% in 2011. The National Bank of Hungary puts growth at 2.9% in 2011 and 3% in 2012.

Hungary’s industrial sector is likely to grow on the back of a pick-up in Germany, where GDP growth could reach 3-3.5%, Zámbó said.

K&H Fund Manager manages about HUF 800 billion in assets, including HUF 650 billion in its own funds.
