The Northern Hungary regional development council ÉMRFT has awarded nearly HUF 4 billion in support for 39 projects to build flood defense systems in regions of northeastern Hungary inundated during spring flooding this year, council president Zsolt Becső announced on Thursday.
Becső said that the agency had originally earmarked HUF 3 billion in funding for the building of flood defenses in the region, but had subsequently reallocated nearly HUF 1 billion resources to support such projects in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Heves and Nógrád counties.
