Fortis Bank, one of Belgium’s biggest banks, officially opened its branch office
in Hungary on Monday. Fortis aims to attract 50-100 corporate clients with annual turnover of between Ft 700 million and Ft 50 billion to the branch by the end of next year. The office is Fortis’s 111th foreign branch, and the bank plans to open a further seven each year for the next five years, including three branches in regions where Fortis is not present, such as Scandinavia and Central and Eastern Europe. Fortis also opened branches recently in Prague and Vienna. The company has a market value of €30.9 billion, making it Europe’s 19th most capitalized bank.
