The number of mobile phone subscriptions in Hungary fell nearly 29,000 to 11.64m in October, the National Media and Infocommunications Authority said on Tuesday.

The number of active mobile phone subscriptions – numbers that were called or from which calls were made in the previous three months – fell 16,000 from the previous month to almost 10.987m in October.

Market penetration fell to 116.8 SIM cards per hundred people in October from 117.1 in September.

T-Mobile’s market share based on the total number of subscriptions rose to 44.91% from 44.81% in the previous month, Vodafone’s increased to 22.80% from 22.77% and Telenor’s dropped to 32.29% from 32.42%.

Based on subscriptions generating turnover, Vodafone’s market share was unchanged at 22.66%, Telenor’s fell to 31.95% from 32.02%, while T-Mobile’s rose to 45.39% from 45.32%.
