Freight deliveries by Hungarian logistics companies rose 6.2% in the first quarter of 2011 from a year earlier in terms of freight-ton kilometers but fell 0.2% if measured in tons, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Friday.
The number of freight-ton kilometers, at 13.168 billion rose 6.2% in the first quarter after a 0.8% rise in 2010. Freight-ton kilometers dropped 7.3% yr/yr in Q4 2010, dropping for the second quarter in a row after increases in the first two quarters of 2010.
Hungarian companies carried 58.217 million tons of goods in Q1 2011, down 0.2% from the same period of 2010. Freight deliveries measures in tons fell 7.7% yr/yr in 2010. Freight volume fell yr/yr in every quarter last year.
Domestic deliveries fell 4.9% in Q1 2011 to 34.391 million tons after dropping 14.4% in 2010. International deliveries were up 7.5% at 23.826 million tons after a 11.0% rise in 2010.
