More German companies imported goods from other euro nations in 2005 than they sold to them. About 413,000 companies imported from the euro-region economy and 219,000 sold goods to the other 11 member states, the Federal Statistics Office in Wiesbaden said today. Five-thousand companies generated euro-region sales of more than € 10 million ($13 million) and some 500 exporters exceeded revenue of € 100 million. 2% of German companies accounted for 83% of overall export revenue last year, the report showed. Some 510,000 companies are selling or buying goods within the euro-region economy, according to the statistics office. (Bloomberg, destatis.de)
