The government has extended the system of gas and district heating price subsidies offered to low-income households until August 31, government spokesperson Anna Nagy told MTI on Friday.
Eligible consumers — those in households with per capita income under HUF 71,250, two and a half times the minimum old-age pension — do not need to submit another application to avail of the subsidies, but new applications will not be accepted, Ms Nagy said.
The system, which was to expire on April 30, will be replaced by an expanded subsidy system for household upkeep from September 1, she said.
