Visitor numbers at the Sziget were just under 530,000 in 2019, the last time the festival took place ahead of a two-year pandemic hiatus, but that year the event ran for seven days instead of six, Kádár said.
"Considering the daily average, more people were at this year's festival than the last one. Although three-day tickets were available, most pass-holders got six-day tickets which resulted in a far more balanced distribution of visitor numbers," he added.
Kádár said the owners' goal was to bring back a well-run festival after three years: "I think, that goal was achieved".
Commenting on performances by some of the festival's headliners, he said a show by Dua Lipa was "perfectly timed down to the tenth of a second" while acknowledging that Justin Bieber's time on the main stage got "unfavorable reactions" from some, but was "the experience of a lifetime" for others. He also praised Tame Impala for delivering a "fantastic" concert, but conceded that the audience response was "not exactly on par".
Next year, he said, further developments are planned for the Sziget. "And we want to bring back some of the spectacles that we scaled back for purposes of savings this year," he added.
