The Budapest Stock Exchange BUX index was down 5.1% at noon on Tuesday as global market-pessimism continued to weigh on blue-chip indices throughout Europe.
The BUX started afternoon trade down 979 points at 18,133 on a heavy composite exchange turnover of HUF 16.27 billion, rebounding somewhat from a nearly two-year low of 18,000.26 shortly after 11 p.m.
The four blue chips stood as follows at Tuesday noon:
Oil and gas company MOL was down 6.7% at HUF 16,500 on a turnover of HUF 3.58 billion.
Drugmaker Richter was down 6.3% at HUF 32,500 on a turnover of HUF 1.12 billion.
OTP Bank was down 4% at HUF 4,364 on an exchange-high turnover of HUF 9.87 billion.
Magyar Telekom was down 3.3% at HUF 498 on a turnover of HUF 1.04 billion.
