ZTE held an open-day event in Budapest, aiming to meet and recruit graduating college and university students, mainly from technical schools. As the Chinese telecoms equipment maker’s sales director István Helfrich told the BBJ, the hiring plans come in the wake of ZTE winning a major contract to modernize the network of mobile telco Telenor Magyarország. “This is in itself a major assignment that will span years. As its [ZTE’s] business position improves so will the need for more professionals grow,” Helfrich said.
As he explained, ZTE would continuously be employing new professionals, targeting youngsters in an effort to settle in for long-term operations. “Currently, there are more than 100 engineers on our staff. We would like to replace the majority of them with local colleagues.”
He also highlighted that the education of Hungarians in technical fields has an established international reputation that is also known in China. “This is why ZTE’s Hungarian arm is optimistic about the prospect of additional staff increases,” Helfrich concluded.
