Fidesz caucus leader János Lázár has revoked a controversial proposal that was expected to put the green energy sector in an unacceptably difficult position, the daily Magyar Nemzet reported.
The measure was targeted at power plants that generated power as well as heat. It was to reduce subsidization 25% this year and 35% in 2011. The idea caused widespread outrage in the industry as it would have made existence impossible for biomass-fueled facilities and would have consequential greatly raised district heating prices in several townships.
The government is nonetheless committed to revamping the support system and will conduct talks on the matter with players of the industry, the paper said.
