The D2 boat, which takes passengers across the Danube at that point, has quickly proved popular, prompting the Budapest Transport Center, BKK, to maintain its operation as long as the metro station on Kossuth Lajos tér is closed.

The Christmas schedule of the boat is as follows as from December 27 (Tuesday), BKK reports: business days: from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; weekends from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., running every 15 minutes.

The D2 will not operate from December 24-26 and from December 31-January 1.

In addition to the shuttle-boat service, there is the M2A replacement bus service, BKK say. The station at Kossuth Lajos tér is expected to remain closed for three months because of the demolition of an eight story low rise modernist structure dating from the 1970s known as the MTESZ building (it was the headquarters of the Federation of Technical and Scientific Societies, or MTESZ in Hungarian).
