Since the introduction of the mobile ticket, BKK has sold more than half a million products through its partners, with the contactless system proving to be especially popular amidst the ongoing coronavirus epidemic.

Including Telenor Wallet, there are now five applications that allow passengers to buy a monthly pass or day ticket for public transport on their Android and iOS phones. Nemzeti Mobilfizetési Zrt.'s own application called "Közlekedési mobiljegy" was launched in June 2019, with Simple, VoxPay and K&H Mobile Bank also joining the system later on.

When the mobile ticket was first introduced, the primary consideration was the convenience of customers, but now the safety and preventing the coronavirus from spreading is at least as important, BKK notes. By using it, passengers can avoid queuing at customer centers or ticket machines.

Using the system requires an active connection to the internet.
