While bicycle paths have expanded, the combined length of footpaths slightly decreased from 50,220 km to 49,708 km from 2010 to last year.
The Hungarian road network last year consisted of 31,925 km of national roadways and 172,957 km of local municipal roadways, both categories showing marginal expansion compared to 2010.
According to the statistics office, around 75% of road traffic circulated on national roadways.
Of the nearly 32,000 km of national roadways, 1,168 km were classified as motorways in 2015.
The KSH noted that the motorway infrastructure more than doubled between 2000 and 2010. Although there were two years in 2011 and 2012 without major construction projects, the period between 2010 and 2015 still saw 100 km of motorways built.
