The previous meeting of the PM and the central bank governor took place last December when they assessed how economic competence and growth could be increased without compromising the decrease of the budget deficit. The state budget data made public on Tuesday project a substantial improvement of the balance. The December balance closed with a surplus of Ft 48 billion instead of the expected Ft 14 billion deficit making the state budget deficit 5%– without local governments – of the GDP as opposed to the 6.6% rate predicted early last year. In an interview last year to news agency MTI Simor called the relationship of the government and the central bank balanced, and welcomed the good work relationship between the experts of the bank and the ministry of finance.
