Christian churches are willing to help the reduction of the state budget gap, but most of them are waiting for coordination, according to an article published in right wing general interest daily Magyar Nemzet, on Friday.
Magyar Nemzet reported that the bishop of Szeged-Csanád diocese offered HUF 100 million to the fund created by Elemér Rédly, a priest in Győr the government to collect donations for reducing the budget gap.
The first offer was made by Elemér Rédly, vicar of Győr. Gyula Márfi, archbishop of Veszprém will support the fund from his own salary. The archbishop of Kalocsa-Kecskemét indicated though that the diocese can not support the fund since it has no resources. The Hungarian Reformed Chruch did not deal with this is yet, it will shape an opinion later on , while Péter Gáncs, the president bishop of the Hungarian Evangelic Church indicated the issue will be discussed on 28 April at the national Presbyterian meeting.
