Thanks to a fixed price advertising system the channel managed to keep its competitiveness despite the 10% drop in advertisement spending, Simon said. He expects the market would show solid growth again by the end of this year.

The core objective in the first quarter of this year was to stabilize the position of TV2 on the market regardless of the current market situation and competitors. Simon said that the advert pricing regime introduced last November went a long way to achieving the target, as it offset the general contraction of the market.

Regarding future plans Simon said that TV2 is planning to launch new, thematic channels now that legal regulation allows it. He believes that Hungarian broadcasting will become a two-player market and TV2 wants to be one of them. He added that TV2 is planning to further develop its programs, create online applications while also developing its web-based services and optimizing them for various devices. TV2 launched a branded mobile internet service which serves trade, marketing and content purposes.
