At an event on Thursday, two Michelin stars were awarded to Platán Gourmet in Tata (about 60 km west of the capital) and a single star to 42, in Esztergom (approximately 40 km northwest).

The culinary guide says Platán Gourmet is "worth a detour" and praises its "highly sophisticated dishes" with "deep, well-balanced flavors and bags of personality".

The Michelin Guide says 42's cooking has "a Hungarian heart and honest flavors", while also being "modern, interesting and playful".

Two Michelin stars were also awarded to Budapest's Stand, whose chef-owners "skilfully reinvent and modernize classic Hungarian dishes using a wide range of techniques".

Single stars went to the capital's Essencia, Borkonyha Winekitchen, Rumour, Babel, Salt, and Costes.

Michelin's Bib Gourmand designation, for the "best value for money restaurants", went to Anyukam Mondta in Encs, Casa Christa in Balatonszőlős, Kistücsök in Balatonszemes, Macok in Eger, Mór24 in Balatonfüred, and Sparhelt, also in Balatonfüred.
