According to a statement issued by the ministry, the government’s goal is to offer more flexible and higher-value financing options to help SMEs invest, improve performance, and retain jobs, said State Secretary for SME Development and Technology Richárd Szabados.

Following consultations with industry associations and experts from the Hungarian Development Bank (MFB), the ministry raised the maximum loan amount to HUF 140 million from HUF 100 mln for businesses with at least one full financial year.

It also raised the client-level limit to HUF 200 mln from HUF 100 mln, and the group-level cap to HUF 300 mln from HUF 200 mln.

Additionally, certain conditions regarding loan purposes were made more flexible, and businesses can now request a final principal repayment of up to 20 % of the loan amount.

Since its launch in January 2023, Hungarian firms have secured more than HUF 110 billion in microcredit under preferential terms through the program, the ministry added.
