Net earnings climbed at an even faster pace, boosted by an increase in family tax benefits.
Full-time employees’ average net pay stood at HUF 479,500, up 9.4% compared with July 2024. Real earnings rose 4.9%, as wage growth outpaced a 4.3% rise in consumer prices.
Median gross earnings reached HUF 570,000, up 9.6% year on year, while median net earnings climbed 10.7% to HUF 399,000.
The acceleration in net pay partly reflected a change in family tax benefits introduced on July 1, which lifted take-home pay beyond the growth rate of gross wages, KSH said.
Regular gross earnings, which exclude bonuses and premiums, increased by 8.5% to HUF 656,600. Broken down by sector, regular gross wages rose 8.1% in the business sector to HUF 649,900, 10.1% in the budgetary sector to HUF 669,900, and 7.9% in the non-profit sector to HUF 684,400.
For the first seven months of 2025, average gross earnings were HUF 693,000, while average net earnings stood at HUF 476,600. Both measures grew 9.1% compared with the same period of last year.
