In a statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture on Sunday, the minister noted that while the harvest of winter barley has been completed – with a national average yield of 5.7 tons per hectare – the harvest of winter wheat has been delayed in some areas due to rainy weather.
Completion is currently at nearly 70%, though several counties have surpassed the 90% mark, with a national average yield of 5.4 tons per hectare.
“The country’s bread is assured again this year, for which we owe special thanks to all farmers,” Nagy emphasized.
