The draft decree, published for public consultation on the government website on Thursday, would apply to guest workers cleared by authorities, in a group, to complete a specific investment, the National Economy Ministry said.

The number of affected guest workers would apply to the overall quota of non-European Union nationals allowed to work in the country, it added.

The ministry noted that guest workers accounted for just 2.8% of the people employed in Hungary.

This is well under the rates of 4.3% in Slovakia, 6.8% in Poland and 16% in Czechia, the ministry said.
