Survey: Hungary’s e-commerce expands 20%

E-commerce in Hungary increased approximately 20% this year as compared to last year, chiefly due to the Black Friday discount days, Hungarian online daily Világgazdaság said following a survey it conducted.

Online store Extreme Digital told the daily it expected online turnover to expand by 50% this year as compared to the previous year, while the number of transactions rose by 60-70%, CEO Balázs Várkonyi told the daily.

Tchibo’s web store in Hungary is expected to rise by 20-25%, e-commerce director Norbert Németh told the daily, adding that online sales has already exceeded sales of the company’s ten brick-and-mortar stores.

Libri.hu director András Deák said he expects book sales at Libri and Bookline/Shopline web stores to rise approximately 5-10%, while sales at other divisions could be up by 15-20%, the online daily reported.
