Parl’t approves amendments to public procurement law

Awards

Hungarian Parliament today approved amendments to legislation that will require public institutions to get at least three bids for procurements of HUF 1 million or more, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

The legislation effectively lowers the official value threshold requiring a public procurement procedure for goods and services from HUF 8 mln. The law also allows the government to exempt certain purchases from public procurement rules “if the use of a public procurement procedure would not serve the aim of efficiently using public monies with a view to the particularities of purchases made with support”. The law was passed with 112 votes in favor and 59 against.
