Hungary’s industrial output saw a year-on-year rise of 7.8% in September, with the adjusted index for working days being equal to the non-adjusted index, Hungary’s Central Statistical Office said in a first release today.

The growth of output, in year-on-year terms, accelerated from August’s 6.2%, according to data by KSH.

In the period of January-September, industrial output saw a year-on-year rise of 6.7%, KSH data suggests. “The volume of industrial production in September – according to seasonally and working-day adjusted indices – was above the level of the previous month by 2.9%,” KSH said.

KSH official Miklós Schindele said vehicle manufacturing remained the main driver of industrial output growth in September, Hungarian news agency MTI reported. The month-on-month rise followed respective drops of 2.0% and 0.7% in the previous two months, he added, according to MTI.

Schindele said the September data were not influenced by the Volkswagen emissions scandal, MTI added.

Detailed industrial data for September are scheduled to be published by KSH on November 12 and preliminary data for October on December 8, MTI noted.
