Hungary sees upsurge in new car registrations
The number of new car registrations in Hungary amounted to 8,229 in September, up by 31.3% compared to the same month a year earlier, the Hungarian Association of Vehicle Importers (MGE) announced Monday.
In the first nine months of 2016, the number of new car registrations increased by 25.6% to 69,444 compared to the corresponding period a year earlier. Sales of light commercial vehicles were up 26.5% at 1,661 in September, and up 31.4% at 15,468 in January-September, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
The association has raised its prediction for the full year, based on market trends experienced since the beginning of 2016, to 92,000 passenger car registrations by yearʼs end, as compared to the earlier projected 80,000.
