Fruit, Vegetable Packaging Must be Green by 2025

All the packaging and labeling materials used for the packaging of fruits and vegetables must be recyclable from 2025 in member states of the European Union, FruitVeB, the Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Association said in a statement yesterday, profitline.hu reports.
According to the regulations, the degree of recyclability is classified by the EU on a scale from A to E, similar to energy efficiency.
The worst E-rated packaging will be removed from the market from 2030, and the A-D class will be subject to different fees.
To comply, the packaging and labeling of vegetables and fruits must gradually switch to using biodegradable materials.
Exporting companies must also comply with the regulations, the report notes.
