Orbán Welcomes Xi to Hungary

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping to Hungary upon his arrival at Ferenc Liszt International Airport on Wednesday, the PM's press chief said, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The president and his wife were also welcomed by students from the Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual Primary School and Gymnasium, Bertalan Havasi said.

Xi Jinping's state visit to Hungary, which comes on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, will last until Friday.

MoU to Strengthen Hungarian-Chinese Ties in Digital Commerce

A memorandum of understanding on cooperation in digital commerce will strengthen economic ties between Hungary and China, Finance Ministry state secretary for tax affairs Norbert Izer said on Thursday, after signing the MoU with Wu Jiang of Shandong Dihao International Investment Limited Company in Budapest on Thursday.

The agreement aims to gauge the conditions necessary for the operation of digital commerce and establish best practices, Mr Izer said in a statement issued by the Finance Ministry. The MoU can support compliance with regulations, strengthen ties in commerce, advance technological development, and promote effective consumer protection, he added.

The MoU serves to improve the competitiveness of the Hungarian economy, he said.
