2nd Shipment of Fuel Rods Delivered to Paks

Power

The second September delivery of fuel rods from Russia has arrived at the Paks nuclear power plant, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a video message posted on Facebook earlier this week.

"We've been able to complete both September deliveries of fuel rods," Szijjártó said, speaking at Ferenc Liszt International ahead of a flight to Kazakhstan, where he will meet with energy ministers from the Organization of Turkic States.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, the fuel rods have been delivered to Hungary by air.

The Paks power plant, Hungary's only commercial source of nuclear energy, accounts for about half of electricity generation in Hungary.
