Hungary has applied to host the 2025 World Beekeeping Exhibition, the Minister of Agriculture István Nagy said on his Facebook page.

According to Nagy, the government supported the proposal of the National Hungarian Beekeeping Association for Hungary to host the prestigious international event, which will be the 49th Apimondia Congress.

The global event is usually held every two years, with Chile hosting the 2023 gathering.

This year's 47th congress was initially scheduled for Ufa, Russia, in 2021, but COVID and then the war in Ukraine led to it being moved to Istanbul from August 24-28, where beekeeping leaders from 126 countries will decide which country will host the 2025 World Beekeeping Show, the minister wrote.
