In Hungary

Five years ago, Balaton Sound, Europe's coolest waterfront electronic music festival, launched an initiative to help young people have a safe and fun time. Further developed this year, the Safety First program brings together experts from different fields, well-known performers from the party scene, and trained volunteers.

With the help of a team of experts and with the involvement of festival-goers, the program takes concrete steps to ensure that young people have fun in a more conscious and safer way, watch out for each other and act when necessary.

The initiative has brought together festival organizers and external experts to identify the most common festival problems they experience and how young people can prevent them. The team of experts and the volunteers who assist them are also present at the festival to contribute to a safe festival experience by being on-site and providing assistance.

Another important and innovative feature of the Safety First program is the "panic button" within the Balaton Sound app during the event, which allows festival-goers to easily alert festival organizers if they need help or if they have noticed a problematic incident.

Safety First experts include a medical toxicologist, a sexual psychologist, a lawyer, a crime prevention expert, and two speakers from the Hungarian party scene, well-known advocates of safe entertainment. The Safety First initiative will also focus on the involvement and education of volunteers. Volunteers are invited to apply for volunteering opportunities through the following website: www.fesztivalonkentes.hu.
