NNG welcomes new CEO

Giles Shrimpton was appointed CEO of NNG, Hungarian-founded supplier of automotive navigation software, content, and services, as of March 1, succeeding founder Péter Balogh, according to a press statement issued today.
Balogh stood down as CEO of the company from July 1, and became chief advisor to the board, appointing Péter Szombathelyi, long time COO at NNG, as acting CEO until a replacement was found.
Shrimpton brings with him a proven track record of success as a leader in the automotive industry, the statement says. As NNG moves through a period of exponential growth, he will oversee development and expansion to ensure that the company maintains its role as a leader in the industry, the statement added.
“I am honored and excited to lead NNG into the future,” said Shrimpton. “Innovative product offerings and strong partnerships are top priorities in today’s ever-evolving automotive infotainment industry, so my focus is on leading the research and execution that our customers need and expect from us. The growth opportunities for NNG are significant, as drivers and OEMs alike are demanding a safer and more enhanced core driving experience. NNG is leading the way in answering that demand, and will continue to do so.”
Shrimpton began his career as a software engineer and has held senior positions at Philips, Siemens, Valeo, TomTom, and Mirror Controls. He is a former executive board member and managing director for TomTom where he created a fully automotive compliant organization and drove the volume introduction of Connected Navigation and Services, according to NNG. He gained his international experience while working for major automotive suppliers based in the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Netherlands and China, NNG added.
