Robert Cooper (pictured) was appointed managing director at the Hungarian branch of Dreher Breweries, having taken effect on July 1, an announcement published today reveals.

Cooper joined SABMiller, the parent company of Dreher Breweries, in January 2014 as business transformation director of the Polish subsidiary. Earlier he was managing director of several international FMCG businesses in Europe and Latin America, spending 15 years working at Diageo and Campari, the announcement noted.

Cooper started his career as an engineer in the mining industry, later he worked with Boston Consulting Group as a strategy consultant. He has a Master’s degree in Engineering from Cambridge University and an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.

“Together with my wife we are very happy that we could move to Budapest. The diversity of Hungarian culture is amazing and the Hungarian beer industry is very exciting. It is an honor to be appointed to head the country’s leading brewery. My most important duty will be to further strengthen the leadership position of Dreher Breweries and to further build the beer culture through shaping the beer market,’ said the newly appointed managing director.
