Big Four professional services firm EY has announced the appointment of János Hoós as associate partner, leading EY Hungaryʼs financial services risk management team from April, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

Hoós, who has more than two decades of experience in the banking sector, will aim to help domestic financial institutions achieve dynamic growth in the increasingly complex regulatory environment through effective digital solutions.

"The banking sector is one of the areas most affected by regulatory changes, such as the forint conversion of foreign currency loans, and the introduction of the immediate transaction system," says Hoós. "These measures have especially burdened financial institutions. Now, however, the industry can feel relieved and turn towards growth and digital transformation once again."

Hoós arrives at EY from ApPello, a major banking software supplier in the CEE region, where he acted as CCO.

Hoós started his career in 1998 at ABN Amro Bank, after earning his masterʼs degree at Corvinus University of Budapest (then Budapest University of Economics). He worked at K&H Bank between 2004 and 2016, in multiple positions such as senior audit advisor. During his tenure at the bank, he was responsible for projects such as the Basel II transformation, the introduction of the bankʼs credit financing system, and the standardization of modeling activities.
